A long long time from now, a galaxy far far away will collide with the Milky Way. These galaxies will not only merge stars and planets, but the species that inhabit these places.
A great battle ensues for control of this new realm. Old feudes mend quickly as a new enemy threatens the entire galaxy. Sith and Jedi must shed their differences to repel the looming Federation’s desire to “unify this new space”.
And thus, the greatest war of all time exploded amongst the Stars…
So these are all my new posters! Worked crazy hard on them! This is my “Star Wars vs. Star Trek” series where both galaxies have collided and they battle it out to see which is better! So if you’re a SW person, you’ll like to see a redshirt getting what’s coming to him, but if you’re a ST kinda fellow, then relish seeing a jedi having a good day to die! Have them up for sale in the shop both individually and in sets. The posters also have free shipping AND there’s a way to get 10% off the whole order as well (but it’s a scavenger hunt!). Click the pics to go to the shop. (NOTE: these are preorders, just sent in the order for them, so it may take an extra week or less… just a little FYI)
(sorry bout the watermarks though) Anyways, check em out and enjoy! >D
Well there you have it folks! The Stars have collided and one can remain victorious! Which side will you choose? If this does well enough, I might continue the series in the future! Cause man, this was a lot of fun to draw!
If you like what you see and would possibly want one of these 11×17 in. posters, then head on over to the SHOP! Got some nice bundles too that saves lots of cash money. And FREE shipping on all 11×17 posters (in the US, $3 for international)! Oh right, and the scavenger hunt!!!
Here’s how to do it… (also in the DISCOUNTS page in the shop) In the little colorful rainbow puzzle below, there are 6 pieces. I have scattered these pieces on COMIC pages throughout THIS website (so only Coffin-Comics.com, not What’s Shakin’, and only pages with comics on them). So if you accept this challenge, you just need to go through the archives and find the pieces at the end of the article, below the polls, in the comic pages (not end of page, end of the article AFTER the polls). These will be in order of color, so if you find a red then a yellow, then you know you missed one. There are, again, 6 total pieces. Each piece has total of 2 letters or numbers! So that’s a total of 12 characters in the code! Make sure you write them down in the correct order when ordering… it goes in order of the rainbow, so Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, Violet!!! (sorry Indigo… nobody knows what you are…) When you have all the pieces and codes from them, and in written in order, just pop it into the discounts/coupons thingy at checkout! Easy (ish)!! For all your efforts, you get 10% off your final order! Nice eh? Lemme know if you have any questions or problems with that. Oh, and NO sharing the code! The point is to sneakily get some pageviews and maybe some archive exploration for newcomers. >D
wow man I did not know you could draw this epic!
lol, thanks! worked crazy hard on these. think the hardest challenge was adapting to a new art style I haven’t used before.
I have to be honest, even though I am neither a Wars Or Trek fan (Although I will pick Star Wars over Trek because it’s Lucas) these are really well done and beautiful. I enjoy seeing the Red Shirt ironically killed by a Red Saber. Nice work Coff. I may have to buy one. Eventually.
thank ya! heh, well… the red shirts have it coming to em!
Admitedly, I am much bigger of a Star Wars fan then Star Trek, though I do enjoy me some TNG and other stuff. However, that “Beam me up” poster made me laugh HARD out loud. The Star Fleet person giving the Sith the finger as they get teleported away is seriously hilarious.
It reminded me of the “Triumph the Insult Comic Dog” episode of Conan O’Brien fame when he went to the Attack of the Clones premire. People were lined up outside, many cosplaying. Triumph brought along a special Star Trek friend, who greeted the people lined up with a hand gesture that doesn’t quite mean “live long and prosper”. Here is the youtube clip at the point where it happens.

If anyone hasn’t seen it before, the whole thing is worth watching from the start. If you have, it’s worth watching again.
Anyhow, while I have always enjoy your art, Shawn, I thought this different style was a really cool change of pace. A bit more realistic, a bit less cartoony. I wish I had those kind of skills! Great work!
XD yeah, in the show there’s always like a few episodes where the crew gets beamed back just in the nick of time… and if I were amongst that crew… I’d be giving the borg the finger or a raspberry!
heh, for me to poop on… classic!
thanks! ya know, I love working in a variety of different styles… it’s kind of like learning new languages for me, kinda fun to figure new stuff out! (which, oddly enough, I can’t learn languages to save my life) and yeah, it’s nice to break up the monotony of the styles I usually work with. it’s pretty strange to work with though, but I think I got the hang of it. granted, these take a good bit of time to do, so the next set might be a while out, but I’m thinking of doing some other (non SW/ST) works with the same kind of style theme. >) glad ya enjoyed!
Holy bajeebies.
Those are AMAZING!
ty ty! >D
Shazbot ._.
H-how…? This only proves how little I know ._.
lol, Shazbot! XD
crazy thing is… it’s not as insane as it looks. maybe I should make a little “progression animation”, but basically, here’s what I did:
*sketched, horribly, a few stick figures of the scene
*used DAZ Studio 3 to model how I want things to look (cause those little wooden guys are freaking expensive!!!)
*fired up photoshops, arranged models, did a rough outline of the figure, then hide the models.
*on top of that, built up the actual sketches of the characters… so naked models and put clothes on em. like playing dress up, but with lightsabers.
*when I liked how the sketches looked, I did an outline.
*new layer, 50% opacity, and used a big thick brush to make a very rough layout of the shadows.
*next layer down is my “fill” layer, where I put in the high contrast black areas. this took me a while to get used to and I trashed MANY attempts before I liked it.
* got rid of sketches and shadow layer and made new layers for each flat color. Or things like pants/hair/face/hands/etc…
*each color layer gets locked and I do a once over with some burn tool then detail it with a very weak black brush.
*a little smudging and fixing up later, toss in some highlights, and Sam’s your Uncle!
sigh… if I wasn’t so ADD with my drawing I’d livestream it, but alas, nobody wants to have me wander off to find chocolate treats in the middle of an art session. XD
but uh, honestly, I don’t think I could have done this without the cintiq… maybe with the intuos, but it’d take me 20x as much time. man I love this thing!
*wanders off to hug his cintiq*
Cin..tiq… me want that long time.. Still, if I can’t get quality art on my tablet, no gizmo will help
Will try to remember all the steps, though fortunately I’m already following the general guidelines ;)
But, what about the Vorlons? Will no one think of the poor Vorlons? I guess John “Nuclear” sheridan will have to blast a bunch of glow stick waving hippies and Join us- we are not the Borg- Federation/Klingon/Romulan scum.
sigh, I miss Babylon 5…
My good God! They are amazing!!!!!!!!!111shift-plus-one!!11!
Oh, and since the only piece of media I’ve seen of Star Trek (outside of popular culture refences in other sources) was the first movie, which I only saw a few days ago (the one in which Voyager six became self-aware and wanted to kill all humans on Earth), I’m gonna join to the Star Wars side of this conflict.
TO THE DEATH! NO PRISIONERS!!!!
teehee! thank ya!
wonder though, who would win in the end… according to physicist Michio Kaku, Star Trek is a type 1 civilization and Star Wars is a type 3. but the ST series has Q, which is the embodiment of deus ex machina, so idk…
^^^ Try getting Q to actually help though. Or even care. He would probably just hang out and watch for his own amusement, or throw obsticals in the way of whatever side actually got ahead in the fight just so he could continue to watch them struggle. Total apathetic jerk!
I’m still sticking with Star Wars. That civilization type classification does sound interesting though.
ah yes, that’s half the trouble…
hmm, I’d think in an all out brawl, the SW peeps might have an advantage, since there seems to be a bit of a technological gap. then again, those ST guys have some really creative folks and get out of tough spots all the time. but yeah, based strictly on technology level, SW are way more advanced.
OMG these are unspeakably brilliant and fantastic! “Beam Me Up” is my favorite, that had me laughing out loud.
>D thank you!
lol, yeah I think that’s still my fav too.
Mother of Crossovers ! … O.o
>D
I wasn’t sure at first if I’d like the crossover thing… glad I was wrong! thinking about doing more posters of this type (but not swvsst). suggestions?
Wow, awesome posters! I like them all, but I think my favourites are the beam me up and the suprise attack. Man, now I gotta go through the archive to find the code ^_^
tyty!! heh, an agent fan eh?
If one goes purely for technology then Star Trek wins…
With transwarps, quantum slipstreams from post-voyager era they can travel as fast as SW ships, have superior weaponry- transpahsic torpedo would not need to bother to be targeted to deathstar exhaust port… ot would simply pass through particle and ray shields and then through superstructure of the station unimpeded.
ah yes, they did make some incredible strides in the post-voyager timeline. though I always thought they should just beam over a nuke and be done with it. but I guess that doesn’t make for interesting story…
I wonder what would happen if we brought over some stargate and babylon 5 as well!
Actualy… I have spent day arguing on SWTOR forum ages ago about that.
Stargate´s only disadvantage are numbers… you se an Asgard warship is capable of traversing Milky way one edge to another in TWO minutes, trip from Ida to Milky way took them about half hour.
Their mile long Belisknir warships have fully fledged cloaking only replicators actualy saw through… and until Anubis dumped some upgrades single shot from ship main ion cannon easily pulverized Hattak ship… (A hattac with shiedls capable of surviving star corona for 10 hours) (tollan ion cannon needed one hit… and Tollan tech was vastly inferior to Asgard).
With their beeming devices they can easily dispatch any groundforce… and since they would not need to worry about the state after rematerialization it would not actualy matter if someone tried to jam it… just beam by brute force and they turn into jelly.
When goauld upgraded and asgard came up with their plasma beams… well The only reason why X304s are weaker and slower than Asgard ships is that they suck at power generation… even though Earth now has access to “one billion(US billion-miliarde in Europe) kilojoules per milisecond power generation” 304s design simply does not fit Neutrino ion generators in… and well they run on naquadria… Asgard did stabilize it contrary to Earth and Anubis.
Plus you have inferior but still really powerful ex-Ori fleets, Lucians, Jaffa, Wraith…
Stargate truly lacks telepaths and telekinetics… but can produce them by genetic medling… Asgard could have grown a mature clone in just days… and fix his DNA in real time (they could fix even their degradation if they actualy done more research…on humans)
Babylon 5… well though it lacks shields rest of the technology is more or less Star wars level
