Yup… GTA just got steamboated! Thinking about a Saints Row 3 version as well… hmm…
So, what game would you guys like to see steamboated next?
ALSO: Got a spot in a mini con over at the Land O Lakes, FL Library on Collier… happening this Sunday! So if you’re in the area and want to check out some of their gaming or anime antics or just want to say hi, then come on down!
ALSO ALSO: Have some stuff coming up next week so there may or may not be a Monday comic this coming week. We’ll see, stay tuned! >)
This was a fun one, nice! I think Vice City was my favorite. Slayer and Ozzy? Sign me up.
I may be in the minority, but in response to “What game would you like to see steamboated next” I would go with an old FPS. Doom, Quake, or Tribes. Crazy future stuff + steamboat can’t go wrong!
ya know, still never played it… probably should’ve picked up the steam collection with all of em, meh. I still loved the heck out of san andreas! have gta4, haven’t even gotten half way through before I got bored. >\ I just hope gta5 lives up to expectations or it’ll really make me a saints row fanboy. >D
you know, that’d be a good idea! kind of like the halo one I did, sorta future meets oldschool. man, I miss doom sometimes.
I would PAY to see this being done …..
Why such great ideas get thrown away for the unattainable goal of ”realism” in these games.
How real can you be if the game’s most fun aspect is massacaring all the pedestrians you see while make a trainwreck of police cars…
man, you can only go for so much realism in these… I love the real city settings that you can drive through, but it’s also fun to just go wild. which is why I think saints row is my new fav series because it’s like a real setting with almost cartoonish (outlandish) activities.
lol, like a full blown gta steamboat style game? yeah, sign me up! especially if you shoot someone and your character exclaims “oh boy!”
I kind of wonder about the possibilities for making a real game that’s steamboatish… it doesn’t seem like it would take too much work in making sprites… only black and white so that’d be easy. backgrounds would be tough but that was one of the easiest things to do in my posters here (oh, btw, these are 11×17 posters!) so making them into a few overlays and doing it all in some kind of side scroller might be easier than a full fledged 3d game.
sigh… I have so many great ideas for game designs but don’t know how to program… bah! dash it all!
Actually, Coffin, some Penny Arcade games do feel a bit Steamboatish (I will get a list up as soon as my PS3 is updated as I have a few). Just put the tv into Black And White mode (Believe me that playing a game that way is actually harder then you’d think) and well, Tallyho.
Um…what is “steamboating”? Besides riding on a water-borne vehicle, I mean…
well my fine mustached friend, it’s a term I throw around that refers to the old “Steamboat Willie” cartoon (which look pretty much like my drawings here). Steamboat Willie was the first time we saw the now famous Mickey Mouse! I think the name comes from the fact Mickey was whistling a song called “Steamboat Bill” and of course, Will can be substituted for Bill.
Anyways, I consider the 1920s-1930s era cartoons to be in a “steamboat” style after that film. I guess the proper term would be 20s cartoons, but I think I like steamboat as a term much better.
so yeah… that’s how I got from point A to Q without hitting any letters in between!! >)
I also turned it into a verb (the act of converting a modern game, movie, series, or setting into a 1920s-esque cartoon)… because I can! XD
After nearly a month of no net, thank you Coffin for helping me threw a very dark time. I have to say, this is a very funny steamboat one being that GTA IV ruined GTA for me. I think a good steamboat one (and being a major follower of this one, with even having the tattoo on the wrist) would be Bioshock. I wonder what your view on a Big Daddy would look like
>D np!
hmm… bioshock is definitely a good idea! I still have yet to play bioshock2… better get on that! >)
Hehe.. hehe.. HAHAHAHA! XD
Ooooh, and the hooker too! Nice touch, Shawn!
lol, thought ya’d like that! >)
