So I just recently started up Just Cause 2, an open world “find n grind” shooter. I have to say, it’s kinda hard for me to get into, since it seems that 90% of the game is just taking over settlements and finding powerup things. Granted, this was a big part of the GTA/SR3 type games, but they had a lot more depth…
Anyways, we’ll do a proper review later… for now, lets just say my biggest problem with JC2 is the total disregard for physics. For a game that boasts an awesome physics engine, they sure do overlook things like, oh, gravity… But hey, what do I know? Maybe you can jump out of a helicopter and grapple hook into the ground and survive.
I wonder why didn’t the Saw guys think of that. Replicating Just Cause in real life is definitely in the top 10 of sadistic deaths I can come up with.
lol! especially for Neil >)
Well, the physics work great, its just that the grappling hook is outside our reality. And do you really want to remove the funnest bit of the game :P
true. though I swear I read somewhere that someone calculated the weight of all the steel cabling he would have to carry with him… and it would be a LOT.
otherwise the game looks very pretty. well… except for some things that bother me, like the grapple physics, blowing up fuel depots that the locals could have used, and the fact that the main guy wears a girl’s vest! (the buttons/snaps are on the wrong side in game, but the right way in all the marketing images)
The reason why he wants to play Just Cause is… well…. *Shrugs*… Just ’cause.
TWO! >D
You know..sometimes those Ragdoll animations sounds more fun to me than the real world stuff. I guess it is for each game’s ambiance. Think of all the ”realistic” shooters and how ”unrealistic” things happening there.
As long as it is fun, I wouldn’t even mind the No-gravity ! Just Cause 2 is quite free in that respect welll….JUST CAUSE ! ( Har Har Har ! Such a smart pun I did…. … I hate myself … >_> )
granted, if I could totally disregard physics in real life I’d be doing the same crazy things >)
